about cinema politica WPIRG (Kitchener-Waterloo)

WPIRG Cinema Politica is a non-profit initiative started by students and community members in Kitchener-Waterloo. Our aim is to show films that are accessible, critically engaging and committed to the promotion of social and environmental justice. We screen independent political films that challenge conventional narratives and that explore under-represented stories and characters.

Our chapter receives support from the Waterloo Public Interest Research Group (www.wpirg.org) a non-profit social and environmental justice organization located on the University of Waterloo campus, and works in partnership with the Multicultural Cultural Cinema Club (www.kwmcc.org) a group that aims to create a culture of cinema club within Kitchener-Waterloo by screening films, hosting discussions, creating artistic works and encouraging community film-making.
