Cinema Politica at Docudays UA in Ukraine

We’re excited to report that Cinema Politica Co-founders Svetla Turnin and Ezra Winton will be giving a workshop on political documentary and social movements at Docudays UA in Kyiv, Ukraine.

First established in 2003 and held annually in the last week of March at Kyiv Cinema House, this non-profit festival provides free screenings of a variety of films with a focus on human rights. Running from March 20th to 27th, this year’s theme is propaganda.  As stated on their website, “The main purpose of the Festival is raising the level of Ukrainian documentary films, promotion of an open dialogue on moral problems in society, human rights, understanding of human dignity as the supreme value, creating the foundation for democratic future of the country.”

Cinema Politica is officially partnering with the festival with a screening of the Canadian documentary THE PRICE WE PAY, a film by Harold Crooks that highlights the criminality of corporations who evade taxes all over the world. This compelling film is a perfect fit for the propaganda theme and Svetla and Ezra will join Crooks and Andriy Marusov (Chairman for Transparency International Ukraine) for a screening and extended discussion on March 20th.

Docudays UA has four juries: DOCU/RIGHT, DOCU/LIFE, DOCU/SHORT, and the Students Jury. Ezra has also been invited to be part of the DOCU/RIGHT jury.
