New CP Locals: Cinéthique Montmorency, and Friends Of Clayoquot Sound

Cinema Politica is thrilled to welcome our two newest local chapters—Cinéthique Montmorency, and Friends of Clayoquot Soundto the network!

The initial programs of political documentary launched by these two locals shows a strong commitment to social and environmental justice. Cinéthique Montmorency, hosted by the Collège Montmorency in Laval, Quebec, recently screened Luc Renaud and Martin Bureau’s PLAYA COLONIALE, which explores the complicated politics of tropical tourism by focussing on the economic impact of Quebecois vacationers in Cuban resorts. Friends of Clayoquot Sound, who are approaching their 30th year of environmental activism in Tofino, British Columbia, have opened a Cinema Politica chapter to bolster their conservation efforts with screenings of films like Ben Knight and Travels Rummel’s RED GOLD and Richard Boyce’s RAINFOREST: THE LIMIT OF SPLENDOR.

Please join us in wishing Montmorency and Friends of Clayoquot Sound many evenings of intense screenings, insightful discussions, and inspired action!
