Montreal director Magnus Isacsson goes North
A lucky bunch of Cinema Politica YK fans and friends got a special treat this evening at an impromptu screening of Magnus Isacsson's latest activist documentary L'arte en action. (See the trailer here - http://www.cinemapolitica.org/node/1292).
The last minute by-invitation-only event was co-hosted by Radio Taiga and the Association Franco-Culturelle de Yellowknife. Filmmaker Magnus Isaccson was travelling in the NWT doing research for a new film when he discovered the local chapter of Cinema Politica and kindly offered to host a sunday night screening and filmmakers forum. >Guests enjoyed the intimate elbow to elbow "living room" experience, and all in attendance had a chance to meet and speak with Isaccson afterwards. He offered all of the insights and behind the scenes info that any dedicated film aficionado usually spends hours searching for in the dvd extras; his transfixed audience were reluctant to let the night finally come to a close.
ART IN ACTION is a portrait of two provocative Montreal artists, Annie Roy and Pierre Allard. Their urban installations sound the alarm concerning important social issues. Shot over a four-year period, the film deals with three layers : their art work, their creative process, and their relationship – because Annie and Pierre are also a couple.Follow Magnus Isaccson online at SocialDoc.net.
