About the Director

Réal Junior Leblanc

Réal Junior Leblanc

Réal junior Leblanc was born in Uashat, which he turned back to after having lived in Quebec for 10 years. He is very proud of his roots and is inspired by his indigenous culture in writing his poems. With his first film Nanameshkueu, he sends a message to his sisters and brothers. This film was awarded two prizes; at the First Peoples’ Festival (Montreal 2011) and at Planet in Focus (Toronto 2011). His second film, The Crown of Life, is also a great success throughout film festivals throughout the world. Réal turns towards documentary filmmaking and directs Blocus 138 in 2012. The same year, in Mingan, he is the assistant director for the “Quebec en forme” project, for which he participated in the production of a corporate video about well-being and physical activity in aboriginal communities.
