About Truro Cinema Politica
Cinema Politica Truro was launched in October 2008 to provide Truro, Nova Scotia, with access to information on social and political issues not normally portrayed on mainstream media, and to serve as an open arena for discussion and learning. Film screenings take place on the first Monday of each month at the Fair Trade Community Cafe on Inglis, and consist of a brief introduction to the film and discussion questions, film viewing (with intermission half-way), and a facilitated discussion after the viewing. At times when qualified speakers are available there will be a short presentation prior to the film. The overall aim is to inspire discussion about the films in the series, to create an open space for criticism and evaluation, and to layout some preliminary resources for further information or action on the issue(s).
