Hello everyone, Welcome to the 2013-14 Season of Cinema Politica UofT.I'm Brad, one of the founding members of the local, here to give you a break insight into how we're going to be doing things a bit differently this year:

  1. Seeking Partnerships: The Local, along with its sponsor UTGSU, is continuing to look broadly for aid in further its discussions and topics this cycle. As such, we're putting out an open call to all members of our community and beyond to aid discussing these screenings. We've already got the support of the UTGSU BDS ad hoc Committee and Harvest Noon Cafe, who will lead two of our film discussions. If you or a community organization you know would like to help facilitate such a discussion for a future film or would have a film to suggest for future, let us know!
  2. Conversations -- Beyond the Screening: This year, we'll be more active in encouraging discussion on our topics long after the film stops rolling with a larger presence on social media (through at least the Union's Facebook and Twitter pages) and with a discussion thread per film on the UofT reddit page (/r/uoft). As well, we'll hosting a similar discussion on the Equity and Advocacy Facebook Group each week. But, online isn't the only other way to get involved...
  3. Networks to Action:We'll also be posting information on our various partners and include ways to get involved in their actions and activities. Cinema Politica, at its heart, is not just about watching a film -- its about challenging and pushing us beyond what we know and where we are comfortable. This often leads to members of our community wanting to take action on the causes and issues they view and we're going to continue to work on connecting you to those resources.

So there you have it! Our local is going strong and we look forward to seeing you at First Nations House. All the best,- Brad.Cinema Poltica UofT Member. Banner Image of 35mm film audio macro by Rotareneg. This file is licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution-Share Alike 3.0 Unported license.
