From Screen to Courtroom: A Victory for Climate Activism

Those of you who came to our screening of BIDDER 70 in May will be happy to know that the charges against Jay O'Hara and his co-defendant in the Lobsterboat Blockade trial were dropped! Check out the above DemocracyNow! segment featuring a dramatic statement by the Bristol County DA explaining his reasons for de-criminalizing their act of civil disobedience, featuring video by local filmmakers Sarah Athanas (director of TRACKING PATAGONIA) and Elise Hugus (CP-Cape Cod organizer).

If this action inspires you-- or the fact that overwhelming scientific evidence shows that we're destroying the planet-- consider getting involved! Cinema Politica Cape Cod is co-sponsoring a push for Cape Cod to represent at the People's Climate March in New York City on September 21 (during a UN Climate Conference).

Here are some of the ways you can get involved:
•September 11 : There will be an open 350MA meeting at the Falmouth Public Library on Main Street this Thursday, September 11, at 7PM. Agenda items include the 9/21 Peoples Climate March in NYC, a conference call with Jane Rudd about the October downCape meeting, report on divestment activities, and informal discussion on the Lobster Boat Blockaders Trial.

•September 21: Peoples Climate March The largest climate march in history will take place in NYC. The flyer for the march and local bus info is attached. Please copy and post freely.Visit for details about the march time and route, plus related events before and after the 21st.
