Cinema Politica is currently seeking submissions of independent Canadian works by and about women (both cis-women and trans* artists or subjects are welcome) for a special screening project called FEMDOC: Women & Documentary. Led by Cinema Politica, this programming initiative is a partnership with the Conseil des arts et des letters du Québec (CALQ).

About FEMDOC: Women & Documentary:

FEMDOC: Women & Documentary will be a specially curated program that will feature 15-20 documentary and experimental films and videos of varying lengths and techniques, made within the last three years (from 2012 on). These works will circulate throughout Cinema Politica’s 70+ Canadian screening locations. FEMDOC has three goals: (1) To increase the visibility of women documentary filmmakers; (2) To highlight gender issues and social, cultural and political concerns that impact women and trans* subjects through the lens of documentary cinema; and finally (3) To create a program that invites discussions and debate around the above topics—while foregrounding feminism—as it relates to documentary culture and politics.

Submitting Work:
The submission deadline is November 15th, 2015.

Please send online screener and file download links to:, with FEMDOC - SUBMISSION written in the subject field.

If you would prefer to submit a DVD/Blu-Ray instead, please inquire at the same email address.

Cinema Politica pays public performance screening fees for each selected work, and fees vary according to length. There is no cost to submit your work to Cinema Politica and we are not responsible for lost or stolen items, nor are we responsible for returning submitted works. Our submission guidelines can be found at
