Cinema Politica Collaboration with Palestinian Perspectives

Cinema Politica is glad to announce its collaboration with the 9th edition of Palestinian Perspectives. Palestinian Perspectives started in 2007 to mark the 60th anniversary of the Nakba (for Palestinians, the catastrophe precipitated by the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948). They have since been devoted to celebrating the persistence and resistance of Palestinian culture throughout the world and in Occupied Palestine, by sharing a selection of outstanding new audio-visual works with a broad Montreal public.

This year's edition of Palestinian Perspectives includes a by-donation co-presentation with Cinema Politica of the film MARS AT SUNRISE by Jessica Habie, a stunning work of political fiction inspired by the real-life of a Palestinian artist. The film abstractly portrays the conflict between artists on either side of Israel's militarized borders, and explores how a powerful creative mind survives, and even thrives, under pressure. The movie will be screened along a series of Palestinian shorts to mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian People.

Palestinian Perspectives continues from Dec. 2 until Dec. 4 with a series of films which include feature films and shorts directed by Palestinian women filmmakers at the Cinémathèque québécoise. The complete schedule of screenings appears below. You can visit the Palestinian Perspectives facebook page for additional information, including how to purchase tickets for the screenings.
