Cinema Politica is excited to announce that we are partnering with the Sofia International Film Festival (SIFF) in Sofia, Bulgaria. Launched in 1997 and organized by Art Fest, SIFF has screened more than 1,600 docs and feature films. This year, the festival celebrates 100 years of Bulgarian Cinema and runs from March 5th to 29th.

For this collaboration, we will co-present a series of free documentary screenings at the Goethe-Institute. This special selection will screen beginning March 16th with EVERYDAY REBELLION, a documentary about creative forms of nonviolent protest and civil disobedience worldwide. We then turn our attention to the stories of Palestinian children and Syrian and Palestinian refugees in BORN IN GAZA and ON THE BRIDE’S SIDE. Next, in THE PRICE WE PAY, the focus shifts to the issue of corporate tax dodging and financial greed. And lastly, GULABI GANG follows the story of a gang of pink sari-clad women fighting for justice in central India.

As part of CP Sofia, we plan to continue screening Cinema Politica films in Bulgaria throughout the year. For details on future screenings, please visit the Cinema Politica Sofia local page, and to learn more about our special collaboration with SIFF, click here.
