Nominate an Inspiring Filmmaker for the Alanis Obomsawin Award

In 2011 Cinema Politica announced a new award, named after Abanaki filmmaker Alanis Obomsawin, an activist and artist who continues to inspire the very work we do. In that inaugral year we gave the first award to the unstoppable John Greyson.

Now, a few years later, we are opening up the process to our audiences and artist contacts, and as such we are asking you to visit the link below and take one minute to nominate a documentary filmmaker you feel deserving of this award, wish comes with a $500 cash prize and will be given out in 2015.

If you know of an independent political documentary filmmaker who has shown an unwavering commitment to community and resistance—both through their films and outside of their actual filmmaking practices—then we encourage you to make a nomination today.

Click here to make your nomination, and make sure to do so before December 15, 2014 when the nomination period closes. A peer jury will select the winner and we will make the announcement in January.
