Cinema Politica’s book Screening Truth to Power: A Reader on Documentary Activism, edited by Svetla Turnin and Ezra Winton, has been receiving some very positive reviews both online and in print.

Below are a couple of quotes from two such reviews, the first by David Davidson, a grad student in Film Studies at York University who also runs the blog Toronto Film Review, and the second from Mark Terry, a documentary producer and director based in Toronto:

In the current edition of POV Magazine, Davidson writes: “Screening Truth to Power is a must-read for anyone interested in documentary activism, alternative exhibition platforms and the richness of Canadian film culture.”

And in a review recently published at Art Threat, Terry comments: “Screening Truth to Power: A Reader on Documentary Activism is not only a fascinating read for anyone curious about documentary’s role in socio-political activism, but its diverse perspectives from documentary professionals and scholars offer some unique insights on Canada’s leading role in effectively using the genre to speak, or screen, truth to power.”

We are delighted to have these thoughtful assessments of our literary efforts and hope they have convinced those of you who have yet to purchase a copy of this book to do so!
