Apr\u00e8s avoir obtenu son dipl\u00f4me de fin d&rsquo;\u00e9tudes secondaires, Samuel Habib, qui souffre de graves probl\u00e8mes de sant\u00e9, de communication et de mobilit\u00e9, se sent \u00ab\u00a0coinc\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb et en retard par rapport \u00e0 ses camarades. Il veut aller \u00e0 l&rsquo;universit\u00e9, se faire de nouveaux amis, sortir, quitter le domicile de ses parents. \u00ab\u00a0Mais personne ne vous dit comment \u00eatre un adulte\u00a0\u00bb, dit-il, \u00ab\u00a0et encore moins un adulte handicap\u00e9\u00a0\u00bb. Samuel est d\u00e9termin\u00e9 \u00e0 \u00e9viter les r\u00e9alit\u00e9s statistiques de la plupart des adultes handicap\u00e9s : le ch\u00f4mage, l&rsquo;isolement ou le placement en institution. Il d\u00e9cide de voyager pour rencontrer des adultes handicap\u00e9s hors du commun et de r\u00e9aliser un film d\u00e9crivant comment ils se sont construits une vie d&rsquo;adulte bien remplie, afin de servir de feuille de route pour lui-m\u00eame et pour les autres. Il sollicite le mentorat de personnes comme l&rsquo;humoriste Maysoon Zayid. Maysoon Zayid, qui d\u00e9clare : \u00ab\u00a0Lorsque des personnes non handicap\u00e9es racontent nos histoires, nous n&rsquo;avons droit qu&rsquo;\u00e0 trois histoires : &lsquo;Aidez-moi, je suis handicap\u00e9&rsquo;, &lsquo;Gu\u00e9rissez-moi&rsquo;. &lsquo;Gu\u00e9rissez-moi&rsquo;. &lsquo;Tuez-moi&rsquo;. Nous devons raconter nos propres histoires\u00a0\u00bb.        <\/p>\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n<p>Samuel commence \u00e0 filmer sa propre vie \u00e0 l&rsquo;aide de deux cam\u00e9ras fix\u00e9es sur son fauteuil roulant, tandis que son p\u00e8re Dan Habib, cin\u00e9aste, documente \u00e9galement les moments cl\u00e9s de son passage \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e2ge adulte. Pendant trois ans, ils filment des rencontres d\u00e9gradantes avec des personnes handicap\u00e9es, le passage \u00e0 l&rsquo;universit\u00e9 et \u00e0 la vie autonome, sa relation avec son fr\u00e8re non handicap\u00e9, des crises de sant\u00e9 et d&rsquo;autres moments intimes, \u00e9motionnels et de passage \u00e0 l&rsquo;\u00e2ge adulte. Il continue \u00e0 rechercher la sagesse \u00e0 travers des conversations avec six autres mentors handicap\u00e9s : Judy Heumann et Bob Williams, l\u00e9gendes de l&rsquo;Americans with Disabilities Act ; Ali Stroker, pionnier en fauteuil roulant laur\u00e9at d&rsquo;un Tony ; Keith Jones, artiste hip-hop ; Lydia X.Z. Brown, militante autiste et queer ; et Andrew Peterson, marathonien et militant pour les droits des personnes handicap\u00e9es. Cette cohorte \u00e9clectique permet \u00e0 Samuel d&rsquo;\u00e9voluer dans un monde majoritairement handicap\u00e9 et de poursuivre son r\u00eave.
