Amies depuis l&rsquo;enfance, Kaienkwinehtha et Kasennakohe sont membres de la communaut\u00e9 traditionnelle d&rsquo;Akwesasne, \u00e0 la fronti\u00e8re entre les \u00c9tats-Unis et le Canada. Ensemble, elles entreprennent un rite de passage de quatre ans pour les adolescents, appel\u00e9 Oher\u00f3:kon, ou \u00ab sous l&rsquo;enveloppe \u00bb. Cette c\u00e9r\u00e9monie avait presque disparu, victime du colonialisme et des traumatismes interg\u00e9n\u00e9rationnels ; raviv\u00e9e au cours de la derni\u00e8re d\u00e9cennie par deux chefs traditionnels, elle est aujourd&rsquo;hui florissante. La r\u00e9alisatrice Katsitsionni Fox a servi de mentor, ou de \u00ab tante \u00bb, \u00e0 de nombreux jeunes qui passaient par les rites de passage. Dans UNDER THE HUSK, Katsitsionni Fox partage le voyage de deux jeunes filles \u00e0 travers l&rsquo;adolescence, alors qu&rsquo;elles s&rsquo;acquittent des t\u00e2ches d&rsquo;Oher\u00f3:kon, apprenant des pratiques traditionnelles telles que la fabrication de paniers et les techniques de survie, ainsi que des enseignements contemporains sur la sant\u00e9 sexuelle et la pr\u00e9vention de la toxicomanie et de l&rsquo;alcoolisme. Trois jours seulement apr\u00e8s leur enterrement, alors que la communaut\u00e9 \u00e9tait encore en deuil, la GRC est arriv\u00e9e et a forc\u00e9 tout le monde \u00e0 d\u00e9m\u00e9nager dans un camp \u00e0 Qikittajuaaq. La GRC a promis que la communaut\u00e9 serait autoris\u00e9e \u00e0 retourner \u00e0 Kivitoo et que le d\u00e9m\u00e9nagement forc\u00e9 n&rsquo;\u00e9tait qu&rsquo;une mesure temporaire. Lorsque les membres de la communaut\u00e9 ont finalement pu revenir, ils ont d\u00e9couvert que leurs maisons et tous leurs biens avaient \u00e9t\u00e9 br\u00fbl\u00e9s et d\u00e9truits au bulldozer.
