Complimentary Programming is a collection of films that we do not have on-the-ground screening rights for, but that we believe offer an opportunity to compliment already-programmed films in the network. CP receives hundreds of submissions each year and we always face the difficult task of selecting only a percentage of the outstanding works we preview annually. Due to restrictions of money and space, we relunctantly must pass on compelling and provocative documentaries simply because we have programmed all that we can for the network. With VOD we have a chance to expand our program and compliment films circulating in the network for on-the-ground screening events. For example, a local might screen a film on water issues, like Water on the Table, and audiences may wish to continue learning about the issue by watching another documentary that touches on the subject by visiting the CP VOD section and finding a film on, say, bottled water bans. These titles are therefore meant to compliment, not replace our network projections, and we will be constantly growing this section with international titles that are difficult to find otherwise, especially in Canada.
Encore Programming comprises specially selected titles from the existing Cinema Politica collection. These are works that we have decided are outstanding and fantastic, and will provide online viewing opportunities to audiences who may have missed their projections at local CP screenings, or may not have been able to access on-the-ground screenings.
