Cinema Politica University of British Columbia

Screening truth to power since 2007

Cinema Politica UBC showcases documentaries that critically engage in social, environmental, economic and gender issues. Organized by a group of students who are passionate about the transformative power of film, Cinema Politica UBC is committed to screening works that provide a space for independent voices in the film community, and encourage discussion and engagement among audiences. Cinema Politica UBC is part of the Cinema Politica network, a global non-profit network of community and campus locals that screen independent political film and video.

We screen films on a regular basis in the Norm Theatre (of the Student Union Building) at UBC. All screenings are by donation and open to everyone – students as well as community members. Please check our website, Facebook page (CinemaPoliticaUBC) or Twitter (@docsUBC) to stay updated on our future events.

CP UBC is supported by the UBC Social Justice Centre and the UBC Film Society, as well as many other on and off-campus groups that we have collaborated with in the past.

Stay tuned for upcoming screenings!
