From Afar

In From Afar, observations of the landscapes and architectures in and around the six deportation centers of Belgium are combined with testimonies of imprisoned people. It is at once an effort to get closer to the inside of the deportation centers and an inquiry into the limited perception that the Belgian government allows one to have of its violent border- and immigration policies. The project was realized in collaboration with Getting The Voice Out, an activist collective that opposes the closed detention centers since many years through research, actions and contact with detainees.
