Send us your boldest, most activating, and most pertinent films!
Cinema Politica announces a call-for-submissions for daring and politically urgent titles. Submissions are free, and our screenings reach across Canada and abroad, giving your film an opportunity to connect with a vast audience hungry for hard-hitting cinema. We are interested in political films* that showcase or explore progressive political values, causes, campaigns and movements. Uniquely, most of CP’s program stems from works submitted to us by independent filmmakers!
We program works of all lengths focused on equality and liberation actions, cultures, movements, knowledge, and discourse. In particular, we like films with structural critiques of oppressive ideological and material systems, especially stories neglected in mainstream media and commercial film festivals.
Cinema Politica is interested in advancing progressive political agendas through film, supporting independent filmmakers who privilege under-represented and peripheral stories and perspectives, and we are committed to collaborating with movement-building groups and organizations.
We are dedicated to ensuring diverse representation both on screen and behind the lens, and as such we strongly encourage people of colour, Indigenous, Black, queer and trans filmmakers, as well as artists from any under-represented and under-served groups to submit their work.
Lastly, we strongly encourage filmmakers to clarify their relationship to the subject and/or community represented in the work, as CP strongly values long-term relationship-building, community-artist collaboration, and meaningful reciprocity across filmmaking practices.
