A Fox Under the Pink Moon

Soraya Akhlaghi is multidisciplinary artist working across sculpture, painting and film. She began sculpting in 2016, creating around 150 papier-mâché sculptures by 2025. In 2018, she expanded her practice to painting, with over 50 works. From 2019 to 2025,she worked as a Co- director and cinematographer of *A Fox Under a Pink Moon*, in which she also appears as the main protagonist. Her new film, *A Fox Under A Pink Moon*, premiered in the International Competition section of the 2025 IDFA, where it won the Best Film in International Competition award and was named among the top ten favorite films of the IDFA audience.

Mehrdad Oskouei (born 1969, Tehran,Iran) is a renowned independent Iranian documentary filmmaker, producer, and photographer known for his poetic, deeply humanistic and critically acclaimed work. His films often explore sensitive and challenging social issues in Iranian society, with a special focus on marginalized groups, women, and adolescents. Oskouei has directed, produced, and written over 25 documentaries, many of which have been screened at prestigious international festivals and have won over 180 awards. His accolades include prestigious awards from Idfa, True/False Berlinale, IDA, BFI, Full Frame, Hot Docs, Asia Pacific, Jean Rouch, Krakow and Millennium Docs Against Gravity, among dozens of other prestigious festivals. He has garnered significant acclaim for four films focusing on the lives of young girls and boys in prison, including *It’s Always Late for Freedom* (2007), [ best film Award From Hot Docs ], *The Last Days of Winter*(2011), [ IDFA Award for Best Film in the Kids and Docs Section] and *Starless Dreams* (2016),[ Berlinale Human Rights Award], which won multiple awards and depicted the lives of teenage girls in a correctional facility. Oskouei continued this exploration in *Sunless Shadows* (2019), [ Directing Award from Idfa 2019], which offered intimate images of girls in a youth detention center who were imprisoned for the murder of a male family member. His achievements have been recognized internationally. He received the 2010 Prince Claus Award from the Netherlands for his commitment to accurately portraying the concerns of his subjects and creating social justice. He also received the True Vision Award at the True/False Film Festival in 2016. Oskouei is a founding member of the Institute of Anthropology and Culture in Iran and also works as a filmmaking coach, actively shaping the next generation of Iranian documentary filmmakers.
