Roxann Whitebean
Roxann Whitebean, 33, is an Independent Writer, Director and Producer from the Mohawk Territory of Kahnawake. In 2015 she won the Best Drama Pitch Prize at the imagineNATIVE Film & Media Arts Festival and was selected by the Whistler Film Festival as an Aboriginal Fellow for her short film, The Paradigm. Roxann is an Alumni of the 2016 Aboriginal Documentary Program with the National Screen Institute. She directed the five-part series, Thunder Blanket and one-off, Karihwanoron: Precious Things for CBC Short Docs. Recently, she was a recipient of the REVEAL Indigenous Arts award and was a nominee for the Lindalee Tracey Award for emerging Canadian talent, presented at the Hot Docs International Documentary Film Festival in 2017.
