Send us your most pressing, most inspiring, most trenchant films!

Cinema Politica is accepting submissions of critical and urgent political films. We don’t charge submissions fees and our network reaches all across Canada and abroad, offering your film the chance to connect with a diverse range of audiences and activists. We are interested in political films* that showcase or explore progressive political values, causes, histories, campaigns, and movements. Uniquely, most of our program consists of works submitted to us by independent filmmakers!

We accept films of all lengths focused on equality and liberation actions, cultures, movements, knowledge, and discourse. Our programming prioritizes films with structural critiques of oppressive ideological and material systems, with emphasis on narratives or perspectives absent from both mainstream media and commercial film festival circuits. Our screenings are often coordinated with local community members and activist organizations to spark crucial dialogues.

We are dedicated to ensuring diverse representation both on screen and behind the lens, and as such we strongly encourage people of colour, Indigenous, Black, queer and trans filmmakers, as well as artists from any under-represented and under-served groups to submit their work. Finally, we strongly encourage filmmakers to clarify their relationship to the subject and/or community represented in the work, as CP strongly values long-term relationship-building, community-artist collaboration, and meaningful reciprocity across filmmaking practices.
