Andréanne Germain
Germain’s love of movies began in the 90s, when she’d skip school to catch a weekday matinee from the very back row of the theatre, feet up on the old musty seats below — a clandestine meeting with that big screen in a dark room. A French Canadian filmmaker and picture editor, she has directed several documentaries with the National Film Board of Canada through its various initiatives over the years including Tremplin as well as the award-winning webdoc GDP: Measuring The Human Side Of The Canadian Economic Crisis.
In 2009, she couchsurfed solo across Europe to produce documentary content for TV5’s Müvmédia. Nowadays, when she isn’t working on her own projects, she finds herself editing branded content for various agencies. She has previously worked in feature film sales for Universal and is the is the recipient of a Chalmers Arts Fellowship from the Ontario Arts Council. Her work has been broadcast on Radio-Canada, TFO, TV5, Canal D, TVO, screened at at the Montreal International Documentary Festival, Toronto’s Cinéfranco Festival and the Festival international du cinéma francophone en Acadie. Germain studied film at Ryerson University and is currently based in Sudbury, Ontario.
