Cinema Politica is deeply saddened by the loss of a good friend, colleague and Board Member Pepita Ferrari, who passed away on December 30th, 2018 at her home in Lac Brome.

Pepita was a vital force in the documentary community of Canada, having made documentaries (with the NFB), advised on numerous projects, and served as an Executive Diretcor of the Documentary Organization of Canada. We remember her as a bright light who was dedicated, passionate and always willing to give her time to a discussion, issue or cause she felt strongly about – and always with an enormous, welcoming smile. Pepita joined the Cinema Politica Board in 2012, and during her second term went on a leave of absence for health reasons, but stayed in constant touch with us.

Pepita was always thoughtful, positive and collaborative, and our organization has been undeniably enriched because of these qualities that she shared with us over the years. At Board retreats she brought a keen eye for governance detail, a sensitive and thoughtful response to any questions of ethics, an unstoppable persistence to problem solve and do things the right way, and a compassionate resonance that extended to all around her, regardless of the level of fatigue or the long hours of deliberation.

All of us at Cinema Politica are privileged and honoured to have worked with and learned from Pepita in the more than five years she was with our organization. CP is stronger for Pepita’s wisdom, generosity and spirit, and so are we. Thank you, Pepita!
